"This has been a great opportunity for me to progress in a different discipline offshore. I have worked for around 10 years across different offshore roles and this is by far the best job – and training – I have had. I have completed a number of courses and already put my new skills into practice. I have learned so much about all aspects of the job, from Xmas Tree repairs to pressure testing. The learning, both on and off the jobsite, will hopefully progress my career a lot quicker”
What happens during the course?
You will undergo a programme of training, at our Aberdeen base in Dyce that starts in the classroom, including some e-learning modules, then moves into the workshop to gain the exposure on equipment relevant to our competency modules prior to joining our offshore pool.
After each period offshore you will have some time off, then go back into the workshop for more training before your next period offshore. Over the course of 12-18 months, you will be provided with the training and skills to enable you to build up your competency portfolio and progress from Trainee Technician to Wellhead Technician.
The course will include essential offshore training such as:
- BOSIET with CA EBS
- MIST
- OGUK Medical
Who pays for the training?
Unity will pay for the training, however there is a potential for some costs to be reclaimed if you leave within the first year.
"This programme will really benefit anyone looking to further their career in the industry. I had previous experience working as deck and drill crew and with wellbore and subsea running/retrieval tools but the wellhead, mechanical and tool training I have received with Unity has really expanded my skill set. I have progressed from trainee to qualified technician and have been working on nightshift for around 6 months now”
